Juniors Win Intercounty Youth Tours PDF Print E-mail

High school juniors from Sandy Cremer's English III classes competed for an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. To win, students composed a 250 word essay about creating a new law. The top three essays were chosen and those students' essays were forwarded to Intercounty Electric. From there the winners gathered at the cooperative's Licking office and were interviewed on topics relating to rural electric cooperatives and Intercounty.

One student received a trip to Washington, D.C., and the two runners-up received an all-expenses-paid trip to a leadership conference in Jefferson City. First-place honors for the trip to the nation's capitol in June went to Caroline Dunn. Runner-up winners receiving trips to Jefferson City were Ely Todd and Dakota Hugenot.

Three to Attend National Competition PDF Print E-mail
Sarah Kelley, Elexis Calhoun, and Chandra Hubbs participated in a digital contest for No Kid Hungry National Outreach Project for Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). The project raises awareness for hunger.
Participants in the project had to create different ways to draw attention to hunger within their community. They have helped with local food collections and gifts for the Backpack program at Christmas. Currently the students are in the process of planning a 5K to raise money for the food pantry. A web page promoting the plans is being created. Other media will be created including posters and radio announcements, to let everyone know what is happening with the project. All three girls have qualified to move onto national contest in July in Nashville, TN.
