"Change for Change" and Brick by Brick PDF Print E-mail

Our friends at the Heart of Grace Academy in Liberia, West Africa send thanks to the Elementary students and staff for taking on the Brick by Brick challenge this year and raising donations to assist them in building a cafeteria for their three schools. These three schools currently serve over 1,500 students in their community.

Founder of the Heart of Grace Academy, Eric Wowoh, will be visiting Houston Elementary in April to visit with the students and staff and bring personal letters from the students attending H.O.G. Academy.

Mr. Wowoh will be speaking to elementary students as well as some high school organizations and classes during his visit.

The "Change for Change" project total donation as of Monday morning, March 18th from Houston Elementary students was $1,266.17. This is the last week to collect donations. The goal is to collect enough money to purchase 3000 bricks which cost 50 cents each. The teachers also participated in a jeans week, where each paid to wear jeans to school. A tatol of $202.50 was collected that week!

Ms. Amanda Bartlett sponsor of the project said, "The goal of the project is our students learning that they can produce change and make an impact on the lives of other people around them, whether in their community or half way around the world and that giving truly is the only way to receive."

In a world of rapidly evolving technology and globalization, being able to leverage the entrepreneurial mindset regardless of career path is critical to success. EET introduces all students to this new life framework and inspires them to plan, prioritize, and pursue their own vision.

Students who attended the tour learned how to start and run their own business, come up with a viable business idea based on strengths and passions. Students also learned how to connect and network with peers and partners. The keynote speaker, EJ Carrion, is an extremely successful young entrepreneur who shared his ideas, passions, and business lessons.

Dr. Benoist visited Mrs. Bryson's Kindergarten class to talk with them about what kinds of things will happen when they go to visit the doctor. Most kids thought they would just get a shot!
