Houston R-1 School District parents will see an upgrade in the student records program the district will be using in the 2012-13 school year. All data will be "live" and accessible through the Internet to parents, teachers, and administrators. Currently, data is uploaded once a week for parents to see how students are doing in classes, check on lunch bills, etc. Teachers have to stay at school to enter grades into their gradebook. The newer version will allow parents to see grades and assignments at the same time the teachers are entering them. Lunch bills, fine and fees, and discipline records will reflect information up to that school day. Teachers will be able to enter grades from anywhere they have a high-speed Internet connection. In addition, the ParentLink program will be much easier to navigate than the version we currently use. This will be a welcome addition for parents who use the program to check grades.

The new secure Internet version will allow access to users with an assigned username and password. Usernames and passwords will be assigned to parents at the start of the 2012-13 school year.
