WHAT'S NEW

There will be a golf meeting Friday after school in the HS office. 

The library will be closed tomorrow until 11:30 a.m.

 

REMINDERS

Spring sports start Monday.  You must have a current physical in order to practice and participate.   

Senior meeting has been moved to this Friday, Feb. 27 during ATLAS in the cafeteria.

HS Track starts March 2nd.  You must have a current physical by then in order to practice.  We will meet after school in the High School gym.  If you have any questions, see Coach Wade.

It's yearbook time again!  If you would like to order a 2014-2015 yearbook pick up the forms in front of the High School office. 

FCA will meet at the hospital next week at 7:15 a.m.

GUIDANCE OFFICE

Feb, 26 -  Drury University and Cox College have teamed together to create a dual health degree cohort and will be hosting an info-session/application day for the Drury/Cox Dual Health Degree cohort  program on Thursday, February 26, from 5:30 - 7:00pm. The info-session will take place in the community room at Drury's Cabool campus (801 Walnut Avenue, Cabool), and this will be a  great opportunity for interested students to learn more about the program and to visit with the various people involved with it.

Feb. 26 - Junior Boys:  A representative from Boys State will be at the Guidance Office Feb. 26.  If you are interested in attending Boys State this summer in Jefferson City, sign up at the Guidance  Office to visit with the rep.

Feb 27 -  ECCU will be awarding two non-renewable $1000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors.  The application packet can be picked up at the guidance office.  Deadline is February 27,  2015.

March 1- The deadline for Physical Therapy Specialist Scholarship has been extended to March 1, 2015.  The application is outside the Guidance Office window.

March 13- Delta Kappa Gamma $500 Scholarship application is available at the Guidance Office.  It is for girls going into the teaching field.  Deadline to submit is March 13, 2015.

March 13:   Robyn Smith from Vocational Rehab will be here.  Sign up at the Guidance Office to see her.

March 16 - $2000 Scholarship from MFA Foundation.  It may be used at any college of your choice and for any course of study you desire.  Applications available at the Guidance Office.  Deadline to  submit to the Guidance Office is 3:00 pm March 16, 2015.

March 31 -  Mid Missouri Credit Union will be awarding eight-$1000 Marion Dale Summerford Memorial Scholarships to graduating high school seniors.  Applications can be picked up at the guidance  office or found at Mid Missouri Credit Union.  Applicants must be a member of the Credit Union.  If a student does not have an account through the credit union, they can open one and then  apply for the scholarship.  Deadline is March 31, 2015.

March 31 - The Missouri State Teachers Foundation is proudly sponsoring the Kent King Educator Scholarship.  Applicants must be enrolled as a full time student in preparation for the teaching  profession.  Applications can be picked up at the Guidance Office.  Deadline is March 31, 2015.

March 31 -  Texas County Soil and Water Conservation District are offering two $250 scholarships for a graduating senior who will be entering the 2015 fall semester in a State College, Technical College  or a Trade School AND seeking a degree in the following fields of study:  Natural Resources, Agriculture, Science and Engineering.  Deadline is March 31, 2015.

March 31 - Mercy Health Foundations-Lebanon is accepting applications for the Heritage in Health Scholarship Fund for students who will be pursuing an education in the medical field.  Applications  may be picked up at the Guidance Office.  Applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2015.

April 15 -  Texas County Technical College Scholarship Program will award two scholarships of $500 each to a high school senior interested in attending Texas County Technical College.  Applications  can be picked up at the guidance office.  Deadline is April 15, 2015.

July 1 -  Penske is providing a scholarship to a student pursuing a Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medium/Heavy Truck Technology (MHT) at State Technical College of Missouri.   Applications can be picked up at the guidance office.  Deadline is July 1, 2015.

There is one week left to apply for the two four-year $9,000 scholarships for incoming English majors at Missouri Valley College.  For more information, a flyer is posted outside of the guidance office.  

The American Legion offers several scholarships.  You can find out more information at http://www.missourilegion.org/molegion_019.htm 

There are several opportunities through University of Missouri for Engineering High School Outreach.  You can find more information at engineering.missouri.edu/k-12 

If you are interested in attending MoETS at West Plains the date will be March 4th.  More information will follow.  This is for students who are interested in a career in teaching.  Sign up at the guidance office.

Missouri United School Insurance Counsel would like to encourage high school seniors to apply for the Dr. Darrell "Jack" Holley/MUSIC Scholarship.  Applications can be picked up at the guidance office. Houston Schools can only submit 1 applicant for the district.  The deadline to have applications turned in to the guidance office in order to be considered by the district is March 1st at 3:30 PM.  

The State Farm Companies Foundation believes all children deserve an education that helps them reach their potential and prepares them for life. The State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship Program was established to provide financial assistance to fifty high school seniors who plan to attend college, technical, or vocational school, but may not be able to meet the expenses of a higher education without such aid and often do not qualify for other scholarships.
