WHAT'S NEW 

Coach Wade's classes for Tuesday and Thursday 4/14 and 4/16 will meet in the HS Gym.

All envirothon students attending state competition will have practice after school until 4pm April 20th-April 30th.  Please attend so we can write and practice our oral presentation.

The following seniors need to turn in their senior trip permission slip to Lisa at the Guidance Office:  Tyler Smith, Liz Harris, Leanna Schafer, Marissa Henry, ReShea Civey, William Hutsell, Tyler Lake, Nora Dixon, Ty Albrecht, Adale Bradshaw.

REMINDERS

Seniors who are borrowing a cap/gown from the school need to stop by the Guidance Office and pick them up.

Tryouts for football cheer will be April 21st and April 22nd after school in the MS gym.  You must have a current physical to tryout. Please drop by your physical to the HS office by Friday, April 17th.

Attention Seniors: The deadline for turning in Senior pictures and Baby pictures is April 25th. 

It's yearbook time again!  If you would like to order a 2014-2015 yearbook pick up the forms in front of the High School office. 

 

GUIDANCE OFFICE

April 15 -  Texas County Technical College Scholarship Program will award two scholarships of $500 each to a high school senior interested in attending Texas County Technical College.  Applications  can be picked up at the guidance office.  Deadline is April 15, 2015.

April 15 - T.R.A.I.N. (technology scholarship) is to be postmarked by April 15.

April 15 -  Texas County Farm Bureau due to the Guidance Office by April 15.

April 16 -  A representative from the Army will be here Thursday, April 16th after lunch.  Sign up in the guidance office if you are interested in speaking with him.  

April 17 -  For Juniors and Seniors who are interested in finding summer employment, Robyn Smith with Voc. Rehab may be able to help if you have a qualifying disability.  Robyn will be here Friday,  April 17th with information.  If you are interested in learning more, please sign up at the guidance office.

April 17:  ITT Tech rep will be in the cafeteria to visit with students about ITT Tech in Springfield and scholarships and programs offered.

April 18:   ACT test at 8 am.  Be here early and bring your ACT admit ticket and a form of ID.

April 20:   The Marine recruiter will be set up in the cafeteria during lunch time.

April 28:   ACT test will be administered to all juniors here at Houston High School.

Missouri State University Spring Showcase, open-house event, is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2015, from 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM. Though targeted towards high school sophomores, juniors and community college transfer students, we welcome high school seniors still searching for a college home to attend.  Students and parents will be able to meet with faculty members, tour residence halls and campus, and learn more about admission, housing and financial aid at MSU. Please visit MSU Showcase website for more details, including a schedule of events, driving directions, special hotel rates, and a registration form.

The Texas County Memorial Hospital Healthcare Foundation will be offering scholarships totaling over $6,500 for the upcoming fall semester.  Applications are being accepted through July 1, 2015 and must be received by 12 PM on that date.  To be eligible students must be pursuing additional education in the healthcare field and reside in an approximate 40 mile radius of TCMH.  Applications can be picked up in  the guidance office.  

$500 Scholarship for the Machinist Local 2782 available at the Guidance Office.  Must be post-marked by April 15.

WHAT'S NEW 

Applications for lifeguarding at the pool this summer may be picked up from Ms. Welch.

The Chute Basketball Camp will host a camp here on May 26 & 27 at the HS gym.  Cost is $70.  Applications may picked up at the HS office.  

3rd Quarter Honor Roll is posted on the bulletin board by Mrs. Stephens' office.  We had 80 students on Distinction Honor Roll and 120 students on High Distinction Honor Roll.

Art Club will meet after school in the Art room Tuesday, April 14.

All of next year's class officers, representatives and executive officers need to meet in the lobby during Atlas on Tuesday, April 14 for pictures.
