ANNOUNCEMENTS

If you are planning on playing basketball you must have a current sports physical before the first practice, Oct. 31st.  If you had a physical after February 1, 2014, you may check in Guidance Office to see if we have one on file.  Girls practice will be after school 3:30-5:30 and guys will go 5:30-7:30.

School will not be in session Friday, Oct. 31, due to a professional development day for teachers.

Mrs. Volk will be taking 30 Juniors and Seniors to MSU-Springfield and Drury on Nov. 17th for college tours.  We need to leave at 8:00 AM and get back around 7:00 PM.  Permission forms can be picked up at the guidance office.  All fines and fees must be paid prior to the trip.  

Tutor logs for the weeks of Oct. 20-Oct. 30 are due this Thursday, Oct. 30 to the Guidance Office.

There will be a Speech/Drama meeting on Tuesday, November 4 at 7:10 in Mrs. Lockhart's room. $10 dues will be collected and t-shirt design will be decided. Breakfast snack will be provided. Please bring your own drink.

There will be a Student Council meeting for all Tier 1 students during Atlas on Wednesday, Nov. 5th in Ms. Welch's room.

The following students who signed up to go to Red Carpet Days need to turn in their permission slips and/or pay their fines:  Hayley Walker, Nora Dixon, Drew Boyle, Summer Neal, Kobe Sutton, Mikayla Bathon, Matt Vasseur, Mika Hill, William Hutsell, Ryan Bowlin, Caleb Tarrants, Bailey Earp, ReShea Civey, Ty Albrecht.

Seniors:  Scholarship information can be found at the guidance office.  Please check it regularly to see what may be available to you.  You can also go to the Houston School's webpage and in the guidance office section there is a scholarship folder there as well.  

There is a Senior class meeting today during ATLAS.

 

GUIDANCE OFFICE

Juniors and Seniors:   MSU-West Plains Red Carpet days trip is full. If you are going on the trip you will need to return your permission form and have all fines and fees paid before you can go.  Deadline for those who signed up to turn in their permission slips and have their fines/fees paid is Nov. 5.

Cox College is having an open house Nov. 1 from 11 am to 2 pm.  If you could like a copy of the flyer, please stop by the guidance office.

On Nov. 13th there will be a financial aid night at the high school at 6:30 PM.  If you or your parents would like to attend, you can sign up at the guidance office so we know how many handouts are needed.  MSU-West Plains will be the presenter for the evening but the information will be generic and can be applied to other schools.  

Willow Springs High School will once again host the Chad Cargill ACT Workshop. It will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2015 from 8:30-11:30 in our Bear's Den.  The cost is the same as the previous years, $30 per student.  Deadline to sign up and pay for the workshop at the guidance office is Nov. 14th. 

IMPORTANT!  Career Day will Nov 19th.  This year we will be using arena scheduling to sign up for career presentations.  Sign up will be based on student's October attendance and class (i.e. Senior with perfect attendance for October will be first.  Once the senior class has signed up, then the Junior with perfect attendance for October will be next and so on.). 

Juniors and Seniors:  MSU-Springfield will be hosting Students to Campus on Feb. 11th.  Presentations from Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Engagement, Student Services; Opportunities to visit with students and a Majors fair with MSU Colleges/Departments based on student interests/majors.  We will be leaving at 7:40 AM and will return around 5:00 PM.  We are limited to 20 students.  Please sign up at the guidance office by Nov. 6th.

There will be no chess/checkers today, Thursday, October 30.

There will be a meeting for all Tier 1 choir members that are auditioning for All Conference Honors  Choir Thursday, Nov. 6th during Atlas.
