ANNOUNCEMENTS

Junior class is selling raffle tickets for an iPad and $500 Visa Card. Tickets are $5/ticket or $25/6 tickets. Tickets may be purchased from participating junior class members, Mrs. Oakley, Mr. Snelling, Mrs. Welch, or from the high school office.

The Mizzou trip will leave at 8:00 a.m. from the HS lobby tomorrow and should return around 5:00 p.m.

Juniors and Seniors interested in a college visit to State Technical College of Missouri (formally known as Linn Tech) need to sign up at the Guidance Office.  The date for the tour is October 14th.  Lunch will be provided.  We will leave at 8:00 and return around 3:00 but we may not make it back in time for the bus.  You will need to have your permission form turned in and fines and fees paid prior to the trip. Deadline to turn in permission forms and all fines/fees paid by Oct. 10th.

There will be a Hunter Safety class on Oct. 18th from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Register online at http://my.register-ed.com

Lindenwood University Cheerleading Clinics Wednesday, Oct. 29 and Wednesday, Dec. 3.  More information available at the Guidance Office.

Homecoming Spirit Days Next Week:

Thursday - Throwback Thursday --  Dress from the caveman era -- animal prints, etc.
Friday - It's Bad News, Bears! -- Wear your red and black or homecoming t-shirt

Juniors and seniors interested in meeting with Robyn Smith from Vocational Rehabilitation on Oct. 16 during ATLAS need to sign up at the Guidance Office.  All juniors/seniors should have received a letter in the mail regarding vocational rehabilitation.

The Spirit Theme for Friday Night Football is Homecoming shirts, Pep Club Shirts or Red and Black!

The Homecoming dance will be in the Middle School gym right after the game on Friday night, Oct. 3.  Admission is $5 for individuals or $8 for couples!  Dress code is casual -- just follow the school dress code!  If you have a out-of-school date you must sign them up at the HS Office by Wednesday, Oct. 1st.  

Credit Recovery is being offered after school from 3:15-5:15 p.m. in the A+ lab.  

The auction for an opportunity to eat-off-campus will happen again on Wednesday during 1st and 2nd lunches.  Three opportunities will be auctioned at each lunch period.  One opportunity will be raffled off near the end of each lunch period - chances are $1.  In addition, a silent auction will be conducted.  The form for the silent auction is on the window of Mr. Malam's office.  The silent auction will end on Wednesday at 2:30 pm.  You must pay at the time of being notified that you are the winner of the silent auction.

IMPORTANT!  Career Day will Nov 19th.  This year we will be using arena scheduling to sign up for career presentations.  Sign up will be based on student's October attendance and class (i.e. Senior with perfect attendance for October will be first.  Once the senior class has signed up, then the Junior with perfect attendance for October will be next and so on.). 

If you are interested in attending St. Louis College of Pharmacy they are hosting an open house on Oct. 11th from noon to 2:00 pm.  For more information the flyer will be posted outside of the guidance office.  Registration deadline is Oct. 3rd.  

Oct. 21st will be ASVAB testing.  All sophomores will be expected to test as well as Juniors and Seniors who do not have ASVAB scores on file.  The guidance office will be notifying these students individually.  In addition, if you are a Junior or Senior who is interested in a military career, you can sign up at the guidance office to re-take the ASVAB on the 21st.  You must sign up by Oct. 15th for retakes.  

If you would like to ride in the parade with Drive for Your School please sign up at the HS office.  

All cheerleaders and band members need to eat first lunch on Friday and report to the gym to change during 2nd lunch for Pep Assembly.

FCA will meet Thursday in the high school gym at 7:15 a.m.

FCCLA members, please sign up with Mrs. Steelman to work the booth at Drive for your school this Saturday.

Mrs. Volk will be taking a bus of students to MSU-West Plains Red Carpet Days Nov. 7.  Seating is limited to 30 students.  Please sign up at the guidance office.  Permission forms must be returned by Nov 5th and all fines and fees must be paid by that time as well.

Congratulations to the JV and Varsity softball team for their wins over Thayer last night.

WHAT'S NEW

A+ Tutor logs are due this Friday, Oct. 3 to the Guidance Office for the weeks of Sept. 22-Oct. 3.

Because of the need for space for parade line-up on Friday, we are asking that students don't park in the middle area of the Big Red Parking lot.  

Internship Students:  Yours logs are past due for the weeks of 9/19 and 9/26.  Please turn them in ASAP to the Guidance Office.

TAPE A TEACHER TO THE WALL CONTEST.  All proceeds go to Relay for Life.  Contest runs during homecoming week.  Place your votes (MONEY) into your favorite teacher's container located at the Guidance Office. Deadline to vote is 9 am Oct. 3!!!  The "loser teacher" will be taped to the wall at the pep assembly.  If we raise at least $300 total, Mr. Malam will be taped to the wall too.  Then you may buy strips of duct tape for $1 per strip to tape your teacher.  All proceeds go to Relay for Life.
