Our Welding and Building Trades students excelled in the Skills USA competitions for the South Central District at the Waynesville Career Center. Placing for HHS were:
🟥 Welding Knowledge Exam (60 students):
Jason Weese, first place
Cody Stilley, second place
🟥Team Welding Fabrication:
Danny Venable, Dakota James and Austin Goetz, first place
🟥Carpentry Competition:
Wyatt Hughes, third place
All six welding winners advanced to the state competition in March. "To be our first year competing in Skills USA, and especially against this kind of competition, I am blown away at how our young men competed," said HHS welding instructor Adam Vandiver, who along with Mr. Chris Reese, building trades instructor, trained and accompanied the students.
The South Central District includes Houston; Bolivar High School; Dallas County Career Center; Gainesville R-V School District; Lake Area Career and Technical Center; Lebanon Technology and Career Center; Rolla Technical Center; Salem R-80 School District; South Central Career Center; and Waynesville Career Center
