Class ring

On July 5, Houston Schools posted on our social media channels asking for assistance reuniting a 1984 Houston High School class ring found in Nebraska with its original owner. In very little time, with many comments and KY3 picking up the story, it was discovered the initials "BDC" engraved on the inside of the ring belonged to Troy "Butch" Don Castleman. He was a member of the Tigers' basketball team, as represented on one side of the ring, and graduated from HHS in 1984.

Troy's wife, Elizabeth, confirmed that the ring did belong to him. She also shared that Wednesday was his birthday! Here's her full message:

"Hello EVERYONE!!! THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for this. This ring belongs to my husband, Troy. He lost it many many many years ago from a move. His ring is exactly this, and has the basketball emblem as well as the '84, the year he graduated. He was stationed in Greece, to Korea, to Nebraska to Hawaii n retired out of Maryland. Thank you Thank you, THANK YOU ALL FOR SHARING! P.S TODAY WAS THE BEST DAY BECAUSE TODAY IS HIS BIRTHDAY!❤️"

Houston Schools is working with the Nebraska couple who possess the ring to reunite it with Troy Castleman. We'll share updates of this wonderful reunion as they unfold.
