Student safety continues to be a top priority at Houston R-1 School District.
As part of our ongoing safety efforts, local law enforcement conducted an unannounced K-9 drug search on campus today.
These unannounced searches are part of our routine safety measures and will continue throughout the school year as we work to maintain a safe learning environment for all students and staff.
A special thank you to the Officer Wink from the Houston Police Department and K-9 Omen for their assistance today and their continued partnership in keeping our schools safe!

Mrs. Coxβs 3rd graders took a math lesson beyond the textbook and put it into practice with a little pumpkin fun!
During their Measurement Unit, students put their guessing skills to the test as they estimated and measured pumpkins in different ways.
This is what being Different by Design is all about! Finding creative, hands-on ways to bring classroom lessons to life and make learning fun!
Who knew pumpkins could make such great math teachers?

Learning doesn't always happen inside four classroom walls!
At our last home football game, two Houston High School Health Science students had the opportunity to take what they've been learning in the classroom and see it put into practice in real-world careers. Experiences like these give our students a chance to explore their career interests, ask questions, and see what their futures could look like!
Christopher Meier, who has an interest in physical therapy, spent the evening job shadowing Whitney Hall, who provides support for sports-related injuries.
Michael Perez, who is interested in becoming an EMT, spent the evening shadowing the TCMH ambulance crew, getting a firsthand look at the emergency medical services field.
π¬ We want to hear from you! Did you have an experience in high school that helped you discover what you wanted to do after graduation? Share your story in the comments!
A big thank you to Whitney Hall and the TCMH ambulance crew for taking the time to share their knowledge and give our students this opportunity.
This is what being Different by Design looks like at Houston Schools! It's about being intentional with the opportunities we create, connecting classroom learning to real-world experiences, and helping students prepare for whatever comes next.

For the past 14 football seasons, Faith Fellowship has been quietly making a difference at Houston Tiger Stadium!
Since 2013, members of Faith Fellowship have taken the time after every home football game to stay behind and clean up the stadium. While the rest of us head home after cheering on the Tigers, they're making sure our stadium is ready for the next event.
It's a commitment that often goes unnoticed, but one that means so much to our school district.
Thank you, Faith Fellowship, for your years of dedication, generosity, and service to our schools. We are truly grateful to have people like you in our community!

Houston High School had the privilege of hosting the District 14 FBLA Fall Meeting on Wednesday!
FBLA members from 16 different schools came together to discuss important deadlines, upcoming events, and plans for the year ahead.
Throughout the meeting, students also participated in several fun team-building activities, giving them the opportunity to meet new people, work together, and build connections with fellow FBLA members from other schools.
It was a great day of teamwork, leadership, and making new connections! Thank you to all the schools and FBLA members who joined us!
