We love our Storybook Creations nights in the elementary! In February, we had a blast reading and creating with our fourth and fifth graders and their families.

Elementary families - Join us as we read "The Mouse and The Motorcycle" 🐁🏍️ as part of the 2023 Read Across America 📕 Each student will receive a free copy of the book. We encourage you to follow the calendar 🗓️ to read each night with your student.
As part of the month, the entire elementary will hear from guest readers from our school and community at 8:15 a.m. each morning. After completing the book, students will be treated to a motorcycle club show as well as a viewing of the movie.

HHS students are eligible to register for classes at the South Central Career Center (SCCC) now through March 10.
Priority is given to current sophomores who will be able to complete the two-year certification. Applicants must be on target to graduate. Attendance, disciplinary records, and grades will be taken into consideration for approval by Houston Schools.

INSIDE OUR CLASSROOMS 🐯 Mrs. Tina Sutton’s Pre-K students problem solved today in order to free the frozen dinosaurs from the ice. Each student, with the help of Ms. Baylee, used a variety of tools and water to get them out of the ice. They all had their own ideas to accomplish the task.

INTRUDER DRILL: Officer Josh Green checks a middle school doorway during a lockdown drill this afternoon on campus. The district routinely participates in mock safety exercises and drills with our staff and students throughout the school year.

#TBT - Seven years ago, Coach Brent Kell led the Lady Tigers to the Class 3 District 10 championship with a 47-34 win against Willow Springs. The team was led by all-state center Sarah Kelley, who along with Abby Casper was named to the all-district team. Kell was district coach of the year.
The district championship was the second in program history as the 2015-16 Lady Tigers joined the 2004 team as champs. Houston finished 21-8 that season.

Ms. Tara Volk, our high school counselor, met with members of the Houston Education Foundation last night to share about our upcoming Scholarship Workshop on Friday and to answer questions about the scholarship process with our seniors. Through various sponsorships and scholarships, HEF is a generous supporter throughout the year of our students and staff.

More boys' basketball 🏀 action on campus tonight in the Class 3 District 10 semifinals of the @misMissouri State High School Activities Association. 🎟️ Admission is $6. No passes are allowed in postseason play.
Stone Jackson is the HHS Student-Athlete of the Month 🐯🏀
A junior guard for the Tigers basketball team, Stone was one of the team's top perimeter shooters and best defenders this season. He had five first-half 3-pointers and six overall in Houston's victory over Dora last Thursday. Congratulations Stone!

📸 Spring photos are coming soon! The elementary session with Joe Ward Photography is March 7-9. Students much have a form to have their photo taken. They will be sent home or can be a printed copy of the form in this post.

Missouri Ozarks Community Health's Dental Bus will be on campus in March to provide diagnostic and preventive services for students. They include, but are not limited to, screenings, exam, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride and sealants. Further treatments requiring consent forms could include fillings, crowns, extractions and space maintainers.
Medicaid and MoHealthnet are accepted. There is also a sliding fee program for children without insurance.
