Houston Elementary students from all grades have been busy creating beautiful butterflies in Mrs. Douglasβ art class in honor of Dolly Parton and the lasting impact she has had on so many children in our community.
For many Houston School District students, Dolly Partonβs Imagination Library was part of their earliest memories of learning. Through the program, children received a new book in the mail every month from birth until age 5βhelping build a love for reading before they ever stepped into a classroom.
Those books were more than just stories arriving in the mailbox. They became moments shared with parents and grandparents, bedtime traditions, favorite characters, and some of the very first steps in a lifelong journey of learning.
Now, our students are putting their creativity to work to celebrate someone who has helped place booksβand a little bit of magicβinto the hands of children right here in Houston.
Each butterfly is a small reminder of how something given with love can help a child spread their wings. π¦β€οΈ

Houston Choir Students Earn District Honors! πΆ
Over the weekend, five Houston Choir students auditioned for a spot in the South Central District Honor Choir, competing alongside hundreds of talented students from more than 40 schools across South Central Missouri.
We are excited to announce that three Houston students were selected to represent our school in this yearβs Honor Choirs!
