🏀 Basketball season isn't over just yet... Next Friday night is our annual Seniors 🆚 Faculty basketball game. Join us at 6 p.m. inside Hiett Gymnasium for this fun event that benefits the H Club. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students. 🟥 #TheTigerWay 🟥

INSIDE OUR CLASSROOMS 🐯 Mrs. Tina Sutton’s Pre-K students problem solved today in order to free the frozen dinosaurs from the ice. Each student, with the help of Ms. Baylee, used a variety of tools and water to get them out of the ice. They all had their own ideas to accomplish the task. 🟥 #TheBestWillBe 🟥

INTRUDER DRILL: Officer Josh Green checks a middle school doorway during a lockdown drill this afternoon on campus. The district routinely participates in mock safety exercises and drills with our staff and students throughout the school year. 🟥 #TheBestWillBe 🟥

#TBT - Seven years ago, Coach Brent Kell led the Lady Tigers to the Class 3 District 10 championship with a 47-34 win against Willow Springs. The team was led by all-state center Sarah Kelley, who along with Abby Casper was named to the all-district team. Kell was district coach of the year. The district championship was the second in program history as the 2015-16 Lady Tigers joined the 2004 team as champs. Houston finished 21-8 that season. 🟥 #ThrowbackThursday 🟥

Ms. Tara Volk, our high school counselor, met with members of the Houston Education Foundation last night to share about our upcoming Scholarship Workshop on Friday and to answer questions about the scholarship process with our seniors. Through various sponsorships and scholarships, HEF is a generous supporter throughout the year of our students and staff. 🟥 #OurTeamOurTown 🟥

Our school administrators met with students from the High School Executive Council to collaborate event ideas and other items for inclusion in next year's school calendar. 🟥 #TheBestWillBe 🟥

More boys' basketball 🏀 action on campus tonight in the Class 3 District 10 semifinals of the @misMissouri State High School Activities Association. 🎟️ Admission is $6. No passes are allowed in postseason play.

Stone Jackson is the HHS Student-Athlete of the Month 🐯🏀 A junior guard for the Tigers basketball team, Stone was one of the team's top perimeter shooters and best defenders this season. He had five first-half 3-pointers and six overall in Houston's victory over Dora last Thursday. Congratulations Stone! 🟥 #TheTigerWay 🟥

📸 Spring photos are coming soon! The elementary session with Joe Ward Photography is March 7-9. Students much have a form to have their photo taken. They will be sent home or can be a printed copy of the form in this post. 🟥 #TheBestWillBe 🟥

Missouri Ozarks Community Health's Dental Bus will be on campus in March to provide diagnostic and preventive services for students. They include, but are not limited to, screenings, exam, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride and sealants. Further treatments requiring consent forms could include fillings, crowns, extractions and space maintainers. Medicaid and MoHealthnet are accepted. There is also a sliding fee program for children without insurance. Forms to sign up for services are available from each building office. Postseason hoops is here! The Tigers 🏀🐯 open district play against Thayer at 6:30 p.m. Monday. We are hosting the 2023 Class 3 District 10 boys' tournament, so join us Feb. 20, 22 and 24 inside the New Gym on campus for three nights of exciting high school basketball action. 🟥 #TheTigerWay 🟥

INSIDE OUR CLASSROOMS 🐯 Cynthia Ramsey, Progressive Ozark Bank Brand Manager, was one of the guest speakers this past week in Mrs. Mandy Adey's eighth grade Careers class. She talked to the students about how important reliability, trustworthiness and communication are in her line of work. She shared about different career opportunities involved with banking: personal banker, tellers, lenders, loan officers, marketing, auditors, lawyers, accountants, security, and other jobs that are behind the scenes of a bank. She discussed what to look for in new employees. Mrs. Ramsey stressed the importance of being professional and having good grammar. You have to have good typing skills, to send emails, texts, chats and hold conversations with clients on the phone and in person. Communication, leadership skills, character, responsibility, time management, and trust are all the things banks look for in their employees. The students learned all about credit scores, their importance on the roles they can play in their lives, and the process of getting loans, and being able to buy things in the future, and how to establish a good line of credit when they turn 18. Her advice to the students was she challenged them to keep a register of their account balances and match them up monthly. Thank you, Mrs. Ramsey, for taking part of your day to share such important, helpful and practical wisdom and advice with our students.
